Chief’s Message

Welcome to the Bishop Fire Department web page!

Bishop is protected by a cadre of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time to train for and respond to fires, rescues, hazardous materials, spills, or any number of incidents that may occur.  There isn’t a day that goes by that our firefighters aren’t preparing for, or responding to your emergencies.

Volunteer firefighters are essential to our rural setting and our volunteers are some of the best. I am continually impressed by their dedication, passion, knowledge, and skill sets.  Our community is in good hands when a disaster strikes.  They truly put their lives between themselves and danger.

That being said, distances, resources, and our frontier settings make it impossible for our volunteer fire department to solve all of the community’s problems.  It is up to you to be prepared for any disaster.  Recently we’ve seen a lot of devastation from wildfires in California and it is important to recognize that it WILL happen to our community. Be sure that you and your family are informed and know what to do.Your life depends on it.
