Building Permits

The city issues and inspects 100 to 150 building permits each year with a total value of about $2.5 million and associated total fees of about $45,000.  Because of very limited available land for new development, most permits are for minor improvements or remodels as opposed to construction of new facilities.

Please fill out the first page including the project address, name of contractor and or owner, and a contact phone number where you can be reached.  Include a detailed description of the project, plans may be required.  The second page, the license agreement, must be turned in with a signature, no photo copies please.  The first page may be submitted online, faxed to the City of Bishop Public Works Department at 760-873-4873 or emailed to publicworks@cityofbishop.com.  Upon review of your application, you will be contacted with the permit fee.  If you have any questions, please call 760-873-8458.
